I wasn’t big on twitter at first. We have firewalls at work, so that’s out. By the time I get home, I am wiped out while trying to write, blog, post, etc. Twitter just wasn’t working for me! Then, I got my blackberry, downloaded Twitterberry, and that’s all she wrote. I am now an (somewhat) active community member of Tweetville. I have had a wonderful time chatting with foodies I whose blogs I have followed, as well as with new people I have “met” across the globe. (I also have other (random) non-foodies I follow…Anderson Cooper, Dallas Austin (check out his great foundation), Boris Kodjoe (since he was so nice at his birthday party and very complimentary of my desserts the restaurant put out), and the gentleman whose foundation I have wanted to work for since its inception…Ludacris.
One of the gals I enjoy bantering with is Glamah. Sure, we share a love for cooking. But, is there anything that can bring a couple of girls closer than The Real Housewives of…. Orange County, Atlanta, New York City, and now New Jersey? Woohoo! Oh, our guilty pleasures… Now, I have to admit that I am completely embarrassed by the Atlanta girls. Please, please, please…don’t judge Atlanta by these women. The upper class/woman with money (which doesn’t include me…ha!) in Atlanta do not all act like these spoiled divas. But, are they not like a train wreck with which you have to slow down to look?

Soon after the The Real Housewives of New York City reunion show, Glamah announced a most fabulous event - Real Housewives Cocktail Contest. In honor of the crazy, drama-filled “reality” series the event asks that we come up with our best drink reflecting our favorite character by June 20. I couldn’t resist!
Now, I am not a big drinker…anymore. Back in the day? [Mom, stop reading and skip down to the recipe …] I could drink the best lushes under the table. Presently? When/If I do have a drink, I usually enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, or (my drink of choice) a Crown and Diet Coke. In the summer, I have been known to enjoy a Seabreeze or Tea Tini. Recently though, I have become particularly fond of two drinks I was introduced to at Straits – the Lychee-tini and … the Redhead in Bed. Now, that’s a tasty one! Okay that just sounded wrong. Moving on…
Real Housewives Cocktail Contest. I don’t know if I have a favorite character. I know that Kim annoying the every-living snot out of me…but that’s not fun. So instead, I chose to create a drink after the character that causes my shoulders tighten, eyes squint, and my hand to cover my eye squint ever-so-slightly.
Sheree. Calling this drink Sheree’s Sassy Southern Stance, I tried to incorporate elements that create a southern, pretty & sleek looking cocktail that everyone is taking about and that pack’s a silent punch.
I have to say, I am pretty excited about this drink. Originally, I thought I would just have the SoCo and the Sweet & Sour mix, since Sheree is a weird mix of all those things. Then, I was in the store and walked past the refrigerated juice section and the Tropicana Peach Orchard Juice reached out and grabbed me!
Sheree’s Sassy Southern Stance
4 oz. Tropicana Peach Orchard Juice
2-3 oz. southern comfort
2 oz. sweet & sour mix*
Splash Lime juice (optional)
Add all the ingredients in a shaker, mix well, and pour into a “rocks” glass over ice. Garnish with lime and/or lemon slices.
*Store bought or make your own. To make, mix one part heavy sugar syrup (3 parts sugar, 2 parts water that has been heated, to dissolve sugar, and cooled) with one part lemon juice. The sugar/juice ratio can be adjusted to balance of sweetness and tartness with the drink in which it is being added.
Oh...You want to know how you can get with a Redhead in Bed? Heee…well, for the drink, here's one way to mix it up...
Redhead in Bed
Muddled (crushed) strawberries
2 parts Absolut Citron
Splash of lemon juice
Simple syrup, to taste
Place strawberries in bottom of martini glass. Put vodka, lemon juice and syrup in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice. Shake well; stain into glass over strawberries. Garnish with a strawberry. (not necessarily how it is made at Straits)

This contest is hysterical! I definitely indulge in these shows. (Unfortunately, I was most disappointed by Atlanta. They really weren't even from Atlanta. I told everyone the same thing as you: do not judge my city by these women.) Annnyway, this cocktail sounds awesome, and I just love that this all started because of twitter :)
Love the title you chose..Sheree’s Sassy Southern Stance! Perfect for Sheree.
I can see her standing gently flipping the hair from her cheek. She that move down perfect.
Thank you! I am loving this cocktail.
